Can you really live in a hotel?
Yes, you can make like the fictional Eloise, or even Coco Chanel, and stay long-term in a luxury five-star hotel, but what if you wanted your own space to call home? That’s what The Sky Residences at One Bishopsgate Plaza are designed for: access to all the facilities and grandeur of a hotel, with the privacy of your own front door.
So what’s it like to live in one of The Sky Residences? In this blog, we explore in more detail some of the fantastic amenities available to owners of The Sky Residences and introduce our fantastic concierge and wellbeing staff who are on hand to help you live your best life in the sky.
Hotel amenities… just steps from your apartment door.
Your home is your sanctuary, but when you don’t feel like cooking, it’s good to know that there’s a wide choice of dining options on offer just a few floors below. All owners of The Sky Residences can utilise the Straits all-day dining restaurant at the Pan Pacific London, or, if you’d prefer to have your dinner delivered to your door, 24-hour room service is always available. When guests come to call, there’s always the option to entertain at home, or you can hire one of the private dining rooms or the ballroom for special occasions, or when you need a bit more space.
The Residents’ Lounge on the 20th floor is also available to hire for those intimate events and is a convivial communal space just for owners where you can get to know your neighbours – if that’s your kind of thing. It feels like a private members’ club – without the need to even leave the building.
When you’re getting ready to entertain, what’s better than a fabulous wellbeing area with treatment rooms, just moments from your apartment door? Take time out of your busy schedule with a restorative facial at Sensory, or have a therapist come to you for a manicure within the peace and quiet of your own home.
And if you need time to relax afterwards, the mindfulness studio is available to book (perhaps for a private yoga class?) or you could catch up on work in a private meeting room. Think of the hotel as an extension of your home: all the amenities are available, as and when you need them.
Services to make your life easier.
Life is busy – we understand. That’s why our dedicated concierge and housekeeping teams are on hand for all eventualities. Going on holiday? We can arrange cleaning for while you’re away, or stock your apartment with an Ocado delivery so the fridge is fully stocked for when you return. We can water your plants, forward your mail, unpack your luggage and even do your dry cleaning in house – and have it put back in your wardrobe the very same day. If you’ve forgotten a special occasion we can arrange for flowers to be delivered and we’ll even let your pet sitter in if your cat is staying behind. No task is too big or too small for your experienced concierge team and making requests is now even easier thanks to the soon-to-be-launched residents’ app; we’ll even take a photo of any parcels you have delivered, so you know what’s arrived and when, and we can deliver them to your apartment for you to open when you want – of course we can take away the packaging for recycling. Something not quite right with your order? We can even arrange the returns service and print out any postage labels. Life is easy when you have a concierge service just a call (email, or app request) away.
Meet your concierge: Aaron
Aaron has worked in London hotels for almost 20 years – beginning as a porter and working his way all the way up to Head Concierge, so he understands every bit of the hospitality business. He has a passion for making life easier for all the residents of the building and enjoys creating a relationship with each resident. Aaron says:
“Working in concierge here is different to a hotel, as you get to build a longer-term relationship with residents, rather than getting to know a guest for just a few days. We have residents who purchased their apartment as a young couple, and now we get to see their children growing up here. That’s really special.”
Aaron’s top tip for living in The Sky Residences is to use the Pan Pacific account so you don’t need to carry your wallet. Just top up your account when you remember and then use the credits when you order food or book treatments – no cash or card required.
Wellness at your fingertips.
With the wellbeing offering available to all residents, there’s absolutely no need to go anywhere else for a gym membership or spa treatment – just head down to the wellbeing floor. The state-of-the-art gym caters for body, mind and soul, with a huge array of high-specification equipment and a wide variety of treatments to provide a comprehensive wellness offering to all. The space caters to every type of resident, whether you’re a professional (or hopeful) athlete, or just wanting to look and feel your best. For those with lofty fitness goals, the wellbeing floor offers a truly exceptional high-performance gym, with a range of services designed to complement the training of a high-calibre athlete, including tailored treatments to aid in performance and recovery. If you’re purely looking to relax, there’s a lengthy list of pampering massages, facials and wraps to help you achieve a state of zen. And if you’ve always wanted to learn to swim, or improve your technique, why not have lessons in the stunning infinity pool with one of the best views of London?
The wellbeing floor has been designed to address every aspect of wellness, and as such there is personal trainer, nutritionist, yoga and Pilates instructor, swimming coach, barre instructor and treatments team available to all residents, with all of the staff communicating regularly to address any and all concerns and make recommendations.
Meet your wellbeing director: Robbie
Before moving into hotel wellness, Robbie represented Great Britain in field hockey in the London 2012 Olympics and then worked as a human performance coach in the fast-paced world of Formula 1: he understands wellness inside out and has helped open 12 luxury hotels prior to the Pan Pacific. Robbie says:
“We worked so hard to create this incredible space, the most satisfying thing is simply seeing people use all the various facilities. The wellbeing floor was designed as a whole-body service and there’s something for everyone, though the pool is spectacular. It’s very rare to have a pool like this in the Liverpool Street area.”
Robbie’s advice for making the most of your wellbeing floor is to simply use the facilities: “A membership to a space like this would cost thousands of pounds – but it’s right here in the same building as your apartment. Everyone on the team, from those on reception to the fitness instructors and therapists, is so friendly and approachable. Talk to them about your goals and they will work together to create the perfect programme to help you achieve them.”
The people make the difference
Robbie’s right – the staff of the wellbeing floor are just the start: everyone at the Pan Pacific wants to help you make the most of your home in the sky. Whether you need a table booking for dinner, help looking after your pet or plants while you’re on holiday, or just fancy a chat in the lounge at the end of a busy day, the service is friendly and unobtrusive – exactly as you’d expect it to be.
